As most of you may know, VA Cafe has closed. That’s sad for several reasons, one of which is that we now have no gathering space. We’re working on that but it might take a bit of doing to find our next “home”. In the meantime, we still exist to make room to explore what we believe, and we’re deeply committed to finding both ways and places to do that.

This Sunday, we’re planning to meet in a home. More specifically, in our (Tim and Corinne’s) home. Meeting in homes to explore beliefs stands in a long, deep, and enduring tradition. Homes are, in most cultures, the central location for shelter, safety, and hospitality – all things that are essential to human thriving, as are beliefs. They are also the place where many of our earliest beliefs are (in)formed. To me, it feels like a bit of a full-circle moment to have this community gather in a house, not least of all because exploring what we believe can often involve both some meaningful seperation of childhood and adult beliefs, and also a sense of coming home to ourselves.

We’ll meet at our usual time (10:45 am – 12:00 noon). We’ll provide coffee, tea and water, but if you want a fancy drink you should probably bring it with you. Sorry – no barista at our house!

If you need a ride, reach out to me at this email address and we’ll see what we can arrange.

As far as what we’ll be exploring – we’ll be continuing our series called The Deep End with a further consideration of what healing from religious trauma might look like, from a non-clinical perspective. We’ll livestream here and podcast later in the week here.

There will also be something for the youngest participants in the community.

Corinne and I look forward to welcoming you to our home, and to continuing to explore what we believe together.
I’ll see you on Sunday.

Peace,

Tim Plett
