Hey folks – I’m looking forward to being together online on Sunday! I deeply miss our in-person gatherings, and there is a sort of ongoing lament in my spirit about that. However, I’ve also been pleasantly surprised at the depth of some of our online connections. I feel as though I’ve been offered glimpses into the home life of various people in our community in ways that wouldn’t have happened otherwise, and that has enriched my sense of knowing those people. For those who have found themselves able or inclined to gather this way, thank you for your participation. The day will come when we can be back in the same room at the same time. For now, I’m grateful for this and for the good I see coming out of it.

We will meet online at 10:45 a.m for some music and Community Time.

Still working on a new name for The Table online, just to keep the creative juices flowing. So far, we’ve got Tablebook, FaceTable, and VirTable. Suggestions?  🙂

This Sunday’s Talky Bit will be a bit of a broader exploration of facing the challenge of getting our gaze up off our own pre-occupations and onto the needs of others. I wanted to explore this topic because I personally find this challenging, and because I think it’s pretty normal for us as humans to experience it that way. I also believe that we’re truly at our best when we extend care to others, and that difficult circumstances can make that more apparent than ever. So…that’s what I’ll be poking around in, starting at 11:15 a.m. on our Facebook page.
(If you happen to be “new” to The Table, or you are just out exploring online and run across this blurb on our website, you can look up our Facebook page.  It’s a private group, so there’s a bit of a process to join, but if what you see provokes ongoing interest feel free to make a request and one of the site admins will respond.)
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
-Tim Plett
