And Now For Something To Eat…

Oct 18, 2026
Hey folks – the short version is that this Sunday is a Souper Sunday, our first in quite a while. We’re focusing on making these a regular part of our gathering rhythms as they have been in the past. For my part, I think that’s a good thing for some reasons I’ll share below. We’ll meet at 10:45 am at Video Pool.
Here’s the longer version, starting with a blurb from Shereen who handles the details for these gatherings. Thanks, Shereen!!

Keeping Thanksgiving going…

Plan to attend this Sunday whether you feel like you have something you can bring to the potluck or not. There’s always enough food and company to share.
Provided will be everything needed to eat including bowls (it’s soup season), as well as juice and water to drink. If what you’re bringing to share needs serving utensils please bring them as we don’t have extras. There are lots of outlets if needed for crockpots etc.

I think that’s both helpful info and good advice – let’s keep thanksgiving going. As we talked about last Sunday, being thankful has some significant connections to being happy. It turns out that eating together does as well. Chapter 3 of the 2025 World Happiness Report offers this in its introduction:

Sharing meals proves to be an exceptionally strong indicator of subjective wellbeing – on par with income and employment. Those who share more meals with others report significantly higher levels of life satisfaction and positive affect, and lower levels of negative affect. This is true across ages, genders, countries, cultures and regions.

And, if it’s true across ages, genders, countries, cultures and regions, it’s also true across a wide range of beliefs which makes it perfect for a community that exists to make room for exploration. So bring whatever (or just bring yourself) and we’ll share some food and time together. It’ll be good for our bodies and our spirits. There won’t be anything separate planned for the younger ones – see above re: the benefits of sharing meals across ages. 🙂

I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,

Tim

PS – We won’t be livestreaming this one, so if you can’t attend in person but have something you want the community to know about, either email me at this address or post it to our Facebook page so I can share it in the gathering.
