I’m not meaning to intentionally mislead so let me clarify – that subject line is NOT about the pandemic. It’s about something that is both unique to this time and trans-pandemic – stress. Yep, it’s time to name it, see if we can learn something more about it, and get a better handle on how to deal with it. While we’re at it, we’ll take a poke into the the Christian religions history of problems with the human body in  general, and see if there’s a meaningful connection between ways we misunderstand or respond poorly to stress, and that history. All in thirty minutes? I don’t think so. This will take more than one Talky Bit. But hey…I’ve been told that my voice, as mediated through small speakers, is soothing. It apparently puts both young children and dogs right to sleep. Maybe it does the same for adults, and they’re just not telling. So if the ideas don’t hold your attention, you could just fire up the Facebook page and get some extra rest. Probably not a bad idea, especially if you’re under a lot of stress.  🙂  We’ll meet online here at 10:45 a.m. for some tunes, then on to the Talky Bit.

I would like to say that our Leadership Team was prescient when they decided to have us not re-open at Creative this fall, but I don’t think anyone really wanted to see the Covid numbers behaving the way they are. That said, I think we’re getting better at connecting outside of Sunday mornings, even if it’s in virtual ways. Our “And Lunch After” and Wednesday evening Zoom hangouts have been a blast. They’ve also often become moments of real connection, where we touch on things in our lives that are pretty challenging. I’m grateful for the range of topics and experiences, from the belly laughs to the deeply felt emotions that have been shared. LInks for both those gatherings are at the end of the blurb. Both events will happen every week unless we deliberately cancel, so feel free to drop in, stay for as long as you can or wish, and to leave when you’re done. Dress is casual, food is optional. You don’t need to wear a mask (WHOOP!), wash your hands or use sanitizer. Just that makes it pretty great!
Also, for any of the littles (or their parents) that were not able to join the Facebook Kids Table Room last Sunday, you can find a recorded presentation of the story Arielle read here, and post your craft pics to the page if you want.
Stay safe. Try not to stay up too late on Saturday watching scary movies, and I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
