By the time we meet on Sunday, Halloween (that sorta spooky but mostly social excuse to dress up and eat a lot of sugar) will have come and gone. Feel free to bring in your leftover candy. Maybe after we ring the bowl we can just dump it all in there and conduct a social experiment to see how much cheap chocolate and processed sugar affects our collective ability to focus during our discussion time. 🙂
Or, we could explore a question that’s been showing up on my radar quite often these days, which I would articulate as: “Where has the hope gone?” I encounter this in a wide variety of settings, from media to workplaces to individual conversations. Colloquially, it feels like there is a version of this uniquely present in the young adult population, but it’s certainly present in other places / demographics as well. We’ll gather at 10:45 am (directions to our space in the link at the end of this email), check in with one another and then I’ll share some thoughts I’ve been considering on this matter. If we have time, we may also return to the discussion questions we just scratched the surface of last week. We will livestream
here and podcast later in the week
here.
A couple of other important details.
*Rent is due. 🙂 Which is also another way of saying, please continue to keep The Table in mind when you choose what you will support with your donations. We remain behind on our obligations at this point.
*Kids Table update. Going forward, I’ll include a “Kids Table Status” in each week’s blurb. A green traffic light emoji (
) means there is something planned for the kiddos. A red one (
) means there is nothing planned. In both cases, there is always space outside of the main room for kids to hang out if they don’t want to be part of whatever is happening in the main space. This week, that looks like this:
Kids Table Status –
= there is not something planned.
Parents, let me know if you have any feedback about this method of keeping everyone informed.
I think that’s it for now. I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
