UPDATE (May 31, 2019): location changed to University of Winnipeg Faculty Club

This Sunday we’ll be continuing our explorations centered on spring cleaning our religious closets. If you were around last week, you may recall that we dug into some current research on how the phrase “spiritual but not religious” might be understood in the prevailing culture. This week we’re going to build on that (and not to worry – I’ll recap for those that weren’t there) and see what we can recall of our own spiritual experiences. Since all of those will be memories, some of which may require work to access, the image of the “box under the bed” came to mind. It could be a box stashed wherever…the point is that unless we’re actively thinking about our past experiences, they don’t tend to be floating around at the front of our consciousness so we have to go dig them out. As is always the case, no one will be required or compelled to share, and what you share will stay where it’s shared. It’s a basic way we can help The Table be a safe place to explore what we believe. I’m looking forward to hearing the stories!

Kid’s Table is ON, and will be until the end of June. During July and August (and just a reminder that we won’t be meeting on the July or August long weekends), space will be provided for the Littles but no planned program will take place.

Two other reminders:

We’ll be meeting at the University of Winnipeg Club Room. It’s located on the 4th floor of Wesley Hall. That’s the castle-ish building that faces Portage Avenue on the main U of W campus (515 Portage Avenue).

Details about finding our gathering
:  Enter the building by the main front doors (right in the middle of the front of the building, on the Portage Avenue side). There is a red and white campus sign on the grounds to the left of the doors that says “Wesley Hall”. Once inside, go straight ahead up the first short set of stairs, and take the wide curving hallway to your right. Once you go around the curve, you will see the elevator in an alcove on your right. Take the elevator to the fourth floor, exit to your left, and you’ll be in the Club. Or you could just follow the smell of the freshly brewed coffee…Parking is on the surrounding streets, most notably convenient on Balmoral, the first street to the east of Wesley Hall.

Finances – we’re still working at raising an additional $5000 before July 1st. If giving is part of how you participate in our community and you have the capacity to do so, this would be a good time to jump in. Summer finances are always a unique challenge, and it would be lovely to come out the other end not feeling like we’re in crisis.

I’m looking forward to exploring together with you.

I’ll see you on Sunday.

Peace,

Tim Plett
