The Math of Divine Identity

March 13, 2016

Hello Tablers! First of all, a word about the subject line. I am math challenged. So whatever I might mean by “math” in our context, have no fear – it won’t involve any of the traditional work of adding, subtracting, and so on. I did say that some time I was going to show us why we tend to think of God as “up there”, and this (math imagery) is related to that.

The question of identity is also connected to that, because how we think about God is deeply tied to how we think about ourselves, and vice versa. So we’re going to talk about an equation that can help us think about the nature of God, and how that might connect to our identity as humans. I promise that although the math part will be commensurate with the capacity of the presenter, the identity part will draw on the wisdom of Jesus. That will be the best part…

Some important details:

– Kids Table will be in full flight, and will include spinny chairs, happy noise, and age-appropriate insight into stuff that really matters. It always does…

-Easter is coming. You may have noticed, what with Lent and all. Sunday, March 27 is the date. We have typically enjoyed breakfast together on that Sunday, and we’re planning to do that again. We will be facing some unique space and equipment challenges this year, so we’ll keep you posted on those details. For now, hold the date.

-Time change. Yep, this is THAT Sunday. Spring forward one hour. Try to be civil with the other humans that may be involved.

I look forward to being with you all on Sunday.

Peace,

Tim
