What Makes A Space Feel Like Home – Part II

Sep 20, 2026

Hey folks – this Sunday will mark our second week at Video Pool (hereafter “VP”, which is what folks in the organization often call it). For those who were not there last week, I’ll put the more detailed directions at the end of this blurb.

For those who were there, I’ve contacted VP about our access issues, and they are working on it. They are aware of the problem. It’s not unique to us but part of larger issues related to rewiring happening during the building renovation. All to say, the plan is still for the elevator and the doors on both sides to be open between 10:25 and 11:15. If the system doesn’t work as planned, we’ll have someone there to let folks in.

As for what we’ll be doing when we gather, we will start with some music and Community Time and then continue our exploration of how we can help this new space feel like “ours.”

There will also be something planned for the younger folks. A further note about that – the general pattern will be that there is something for the kids on weeks 2, 3 and 4 of each month. We’ll still remind you in the blurb, or make note of any exceptions.

As usual, we’ll livestream here. We won’t podcast this one because a lot of it will be interactive.

And finally, a note about our continued need to shore up our finances. We were short of the funds needed to meet our mid-month obligations. If you are able to support The Table financially, please do. You can find info about how to do that here. We are a registered charity, and donations receive an annual tax-deductible receipt.

I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,

Tim Plett

As promised, here are the detailed directions:
Address: 221 – 100 Arthur Street. (In other words, 100 Arthur Street, second floor)
Access: street level doors on both the Arthur Street and King Street sides of the building will be unlocked from 10:25 – 11:15 am. After that, you can leave the building at any time, but you won’t be able to get in without someone coming to let you in.

Accessibility: As you’ll see in the attached video, there is a lift that bypasses the stairs. It’s on the King Street side of the building, so if stairs are a challenge for you, come in that entry and use the lift. Once you get to the lobby level, there is an elevator to the second floor. It sometimes takes a while to arrive when summoned, but it does work. Patience may be required.

Coffee – this is a “bring your own” coffee venue. Plan accordingly. 🙂
