How To Strengthen Your Hope Muscles – Part 2

Nov 8, 2026

Hey folks,
Hope can be a bit of a shape-shifter. It looks different for different people, given their unique circumstances. I think that’s one of the important reasons to explore it from various vantage points. Last week, we considered some aspects of what we might call a more “traditional” take on hope. This week, we’ll dig into some contemporary ideas about what hope is, where it comes from, and how to help it thrive.

We’ll gather at Video Pool (100 Arthur, second floor – video on how to find us here) at 10:45 a.m.  We’ll have a chance to share what’s going on in our lives during Community Time, will livestream here and podcast the Talky Bit later in the week here.

Some important housekeeping matters:

  • Not Quite Christmas – mark your calendars for December 20th, same time, same place. It will also be a Souper Sunday. Details closer to the date. 🙂
  • Finances – Thanks to those who have made donations. Every bit helps! We remain behind on payroll and rent, so this is still a pressing matter.
  • Facebook – Part of why we’re having trouble paying the bills is simply that our community isn’t very large. As a Leadership Team, we’ve been having an ongoing conversation about how to address that. One initiative that keeps coming up and that we’ve kept backing away from is making our Facebook page public and inviting people in the community to be more active in that space. It’s the most direct and effective way to reach a group that already knows something about The Table, and to spread the word about who we are and where we are. NOTE: We won’t make this change until the end of November, so if you have posts on that page that you want to take down, this is the window to do that. We’ll have more conversations about alternative “private group” online spaces as we go, but for now that will be our next move.
  • Posters – we’ll also be putting up posters in the Exchange. To everyone who contributed to the word cloud, thank you. All of those perspectives help inform how we try to describe The Table to folks who have never experienced it.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
