I Doubt It Part 3 – Am I A Zero?
Hey folks! The view out my window would suggest that the growing things are taking over. 🙂 I love this time of year, when everywhere you turn the world is growing, changing, expressing the irrepressible vibrancy of new life. My mom and I were talking about seeds earlier today. Mom is a gardener, as are several people in our community, and I felt my spirit being filled up and renewed as I listened to her rhapsodize about the wonder of whole plants coming from tiny seeds, and then good things to eat growing on those plants, and human relationships thriving among those who work in the raised garden beds at the building where she lives. Yes, these are undoubtedly challenging times. And yes, good things are still springing up from the earth, reminding us that life goes on, that we have an important part to play, and that choosing to engage as we are able can have a huge impact on our own experiences of the world around us.
In ways that are akin to tiny seeds rising up as study and beautiful plants, we’re going to spend part of this coming Sunday morning exploring “Stage Zero”, the place where all our faith begins. Faith, trusting what we can’t see, is something we all experience whether we do so in religious ways or otherwise. And Stage Zero is where we all start, no matter where we go from there. In many ways, Stage Zero is the faith experience we all have in common…and then paths diverge. The question, “Am I A Zero?” is an interesting one, but for me it becomes more interesting when I modify it a bit to ask, “Am I still a zero?”. I’ll unpack that in the Talky Bit on Sunday.
