What exactly are thoughts and prayers?

Jul 15, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Don’t worry, Tim Plett will be there this week, he asked me to send the weekly email out for reasons that will become clear from the blurb below.

First off, we’re meeting at Creative Manitoba again this week.

Second, on behalf of the leadership team, and as a person who deeply values this little Church and all the people involved, I want to send out a heartfelt thanks to everyone that stepped up financially to make sure that we have been able to keep going through the summer. That said, I would like to invite everyone to keep considering us as a place to continue supporting. Despite a very small budget, it does take a combined effort to keep us going. If you’re going to be away all summer, donations can be made through Paypal on the website, or, if you are so inclined, you can set up a monthly recurring payment, and never have to think about it again!

Finally, a word from Tim Plett about what to expect this Sunday:

I’m writing this from the the bedside of my dad, who is now in palliative care in Saskatoon. He sleeps a lot, so “keeping vigil” is a curious combination of attending and just being there. I don’t mention that to be melodramatic or to elicit any particular sympathy. So many of you have expressed your care; I feel surrounded (in a good way) and supported. Rather, I mention it because under these circumstances I often have people say “I’ll be praying for you.” I’m thankful for their prayers. Also, that has me thinking about why we pray, what sort of pre-suppositions we have running in the background, and what might be both comforting and problematic about those frameworks. So that’s what I’ll be exploring in the Talky Bit on Sunday. I should also mention that it’ll be part 1 of 2. I look forward to being with you all.

-Tim
