June 24, 630pm gathering

June 20, 2013

When we were gathered last Monday evening (yep, MONDAY EVENING, 6:30 p.m., Frame Arts Warehouse, C Gallery – and if you are feeling overwhelmed with address information, just look for the sandwich board sign), Jason led us in an engaging group reflection and discussion. It turned out to be about lots of things, as these kinds of conversation often are. However, one of the stories that Jason referenced was about Jesus healing a blind man who just kept on yelling until he got what his heart desired. And that led to a conversation about the woman that snuck a healing from Jesus by touching the hem of his garment.

And that story got me thinking about all the oddball moments in the gospels where Jesus seems a bit ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)…moving purposefully in one direction, only to suddenly veer off in another. How odd, how curious, how very intriguing!

This week we’re going to explore some of those moments a bit further, NOT in the interest of justifying lack of focus or intentionality, but in the interest of seeing if maybe there is something more significant going on in the shape of these stories than it would first appear.

Some other reminders:
*Other than the above stated fact that we are now meeting on Monday evenings for the summer, I should mention that the start time has become a bit more important to aim at for two reasons:
-If we can actually start close to 6:30, the people that are coming to the gatherings with little kids get to stay for more of our time together.
-The A Gallery is hosting their regular Open Mic each Monday night, starting at 7:30. That means that if we start at 6:30, our “noisy” time kinda matches their start time…better than trying to be reflective while some creative slam poet is yelling at the universe in the room next door, it seems to me.
*Coffee and Kids Table are taking the summer off. There is iced tea and toys and play mats, so don’t leave home without the kids or your favorite sippy cup.

See you on MONDAY…

Peace,

Tim
