(new) Home Making 101
Hey everyone – this week we’ll get to encounter some of the realities of what it takes to help folks that are seeking refuge in Canada actually make a home here. We will get to see, up close and personal, both what the challenges are here in Canada, and how global an issue this is. We’ll also get a better grasp of how it impacts families. And, in what I think will help “bring it home”, we’ll have a chance to ask what part our community might play in at least one of these stories. We’ll have some guests that will share their story and help guide our conversation and answer questions. That’s all I’m going to say about that for now, partly because this is a fairly late-breaking opportunity (it was confirmed less than two hours ago), and partly because I would rather we all had this experience first-hand.
A couple of details:
Gathering location – we’ll be at Pantages, but will be meeting on the lower level. Just come in where you usually do, and take the elevator down. Also, this is our last Sunday at Pantages for some time to come. The next three months will be at Sam’s Place. I’ll remind you about that in the weeks to come as well.
Kid’s Table will be on as usual and (as far as I know) be in the usual location. If we need to, we have an alternative location available on the lower level, so either way…game on!
Tax receipts – if you are expecting one and haven’t received it by email, it probably means it either bounced back when we tried to send it or we don’t have an email address for you. In either case, I’ll have printed copies of the ones we haven’t successfully emailed with me on Sunday, so if you don’t have yours yet just come and talk to me. If there appear to be discrepancies between your records and the issued receipt, please mention that to me as well so that we can resolve the issue as promptly as possible.
I’m looking forward to our time together.
Peace,
Tim Plett
