In the Interest of doing Good Work…
August 12, 2015
Hey Tablers! A couple of weeks ago I had the startling experience of being reminded that an early August deadline was looming. August, as we all know, is not only the last month of Winnipeg summer but a direct precursor of September. And whatever else September means, for many of us it means change. That change often involves a shift in our work, whether that is from summer employment to student life, from one job or location to another, or into new responsibilities.
And so, as the turning page of the calender (too melodramatic, do you think?) got me musing about work, I decided that this Wednesday evening I want to probe the question of finding God through our work. In particular, I want to explore the connection between kindness and good work; work that is worthwhile, meaningful, and God-revealing. So I’m going to give that a shot…
NOTE: August also makes me want to sit around a campfire with friends, so here’s an idea…What would you all think of one of our August Wednesday evenings being a “hang” in someone’s back yard? I feel like I remember someone in our community saying “If you ever want to have a backyard gathering in the city, you should contact….??????”. I can’t remember who said it, and I guess I might be making it up, but if anybody out there in Table Land knows of a backyard where some of us could sit around a fire while the sun goes down, let me know. I think it would be a premium way to spend a Wednesday evening.
See you all at 6:30 at Independent.
Peace,
Tim Plett
