Here’s Pie In Your Face, Kids…and a bunch of important details

Nov 3, 2024

Whoop! This is it- after several attempts (who knew kids had such complicated schedules?), the Pie In Your Face fundraiser is happening this Sunday! There’s a video that explains the whole thing here, just in case you haven’t checked it out yet. Short version – we’ve made it past the minimum amount required for the kids to get what they want, which is to be pied. So that’s going to happen.

Having said that, the purpose of the fundraiser is to, well, raise funds, and although we’ve passed the first marker of raising $1000, we have quite a ways to go to get to $5000. The funds all go to keeping us running, so please give as you are able.

Other matters of interest and importance:

Community Survey – you can find the survey here. If you haven’t done so yet (and for the record, most of us haven’t and thanks to those who have), I would invite you to take a couple of minutes to fill it out. It will help us make more informed decisions about all things Table. Thanks in advance for participating in our well-being as a community in this way.

Not Quite Christmas 2024 – Yes, I do know that I’m sending this out on Halloween and there is no snow yet. However, as someone recently pointed out, it’s been Christmas at Dollarama since September, and while I’m not prepared to regard that as the gold standard in this matter, I don’t think it’s too soon for a “save the date”. And the date is…Sunday, December 22nd, at our usual time. Put it in your calendar. Tell the kids Santa will be there. (He won’t, but is that really the only thing you’ve told them, or been told, about Santa that might not turn out to be an actual fact? On second thought, don’t mislead the littles. You can tell them in good faith that there will be perogies. Will that work?) We’ll have a bit of a gathering and then we’ll eat together, pot-luck-plus style. The menu theme, just in case you’re a serious “plan-ahead” kinda person, will be “brunch”. More details closer to the date.

This Sunday we will gather at 10:45 a.m. at VA Cafe. We’ll livestream here. We won’t podcast this one, because it’s hard to really adequately capture the “squish” of someone getting pied in podcast format. You gotta be there, but don’t wear your favorite clothes. The room is pretty small. ‘Nuf said?  🙂
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
