How To Start A Resistance Movement
You know, the gauge of the merit of a resistance movement hinges in many ways on what is being resisted. Most of us would find ourselves cheering for movements that resist things like oppression, slavery, unethical business practices, and overall injustice. We might not always find ourselves onside with how such movements behave; the actions they choose, the rhetoric they use, the ways they treat those who see the world differently. But we might find ourselves agreeing that something needs to change, and that resisting the prevailing norms may be an essential, inescapable aspect of that change process.
This week, as part of our ongoing series on Sacred Rest, we’ll get a little bit closer to addressing practical questions about how to get started, should we choose to do so. We’ll find ourselves in a space that is both radical and ordinary, sweeping and small, grand and grounded.
This is a Full Circle Sunday. Kids Table, music, Community Time, Talky Bit…not necessarily in that order, but all on the agenda. We will meet as usual at 171 McDermot Avenue, the home of VA Cafe. We will get underway at 10:45 a.m. and wrap up by 12:00 noon. We will livestream here on Sunday, and podcast here later the following week.
Also, by way of making it a bit easier for people you might invite or who may stumble across us online, there is now a “How To Find Us” instructional video, hosted by the inimitable Atticus. (If you’ve been around any length of time, you’ll know who that is. If not, click the link below to meet our guide.) You can find the video here. It’s public, so anyone with the link can view it. Please share it liberally, both to help new folks find our in-person location and because it’s kinda fun.
Peace,
