Nuanced Compassion Part Last – The Problem(s) With Pity

Mar 19, 2023

Hey folks – Happy Friday! There have been a couple of moments this past week where I found the notion of spring believable, and that feels good. I hope you felt some of that warmth as well, and that it stirred a bit of hope or joy.

This is an “Online Exclusive” week. We’ll only meet online at our Facebook page at 10:45 a.m., and jump right in with some breathing and Community Time, followed by the Talky Bit. For those not familiar, think “livestreamed podcast” and you’ll be on the right track.  I’ll be exploring the last of the near enemies of fierce compassion, pity. Among the other aspects of that exploration, we’ll consider the strong connection between some common religious perspectives and pity, in the interest of continuing to grow in our understanding of our own experiences and exploration of beliefs.

Next week (March 26th) will be a Full Circle Sunday. In case you missed it, that means an in-person gathering at 170 Scott Street, complete with music, Community Time, Kids Table and a Talky Bit. See what I mean? Full Circle. On this particular Full Circle Sunday we’re going to bring back the “Misty and Judi Show” for a conversation about…well, they’ll tell us more about that in the blurb next week.

One final detail – Kids Table could still use a couple more yoga mats. If you’ve got one you want to donate, bring it along to any in-person gathering and we’ll put it to good use.

I’ll see you (online) on Sunday.

Peace,
Tim Plett
