I Doubt It Part 8 - How To Doubt Better

But first, the weather. Ah, the weather. When our kids were little, Veggie Tales was a fixture in our home. The older ones can still quote huge sections of dialogue. I can even quote some lines, including part of a song meant to teach homophones (words that have the same sound but different origins, meaning or spelling). In that instance, the hook of the chorus was, “weather, whether, weather, whether, whether weather or not…”. We had a perfectly good plan to meet outdoors and in person this Sunday; the lawn is mowed, the details were coming together nicely, my Talky Bit took our setting into account…and the forecast is for a fair bit of rain heading into the weekend, including on Sunday. Best case scenario would be that it clears up by Sunday and the yard is too squishy to sit on. So we’re going with our rain date of August 29th.

Let me put that on a separate line, for anyone that is just whipping through this on their phone. Our outdoor, in-person gathering (I’m still just as excited about that as I was before!) is now scheduled for Sunday, August 29th. I’ll put the details of that into the blurb next week, as long as it doesn’t rain.  🙂
And while we’re on the topic of rain, this week’s Talky Bit will include a valiant attempt to integrate our experiences of weather and our ability to become better informed about what happens inside us when we doubt, and better equipped to handle it. I believe doubt is essential, and being better at it can help us get more from it. Show up on Sunday to see if I can pull that off. We’ll meet on Facebook at 10:45 a.m. for music and Community Time, followed by the Talky Bit. And Lunch After will follow at 12:30, as well as our usual Wednesday evening hang at 7:30 p.m. Facebook seems to be having some trouble with hyperlinks, so I’ll include the URL’s for all of those at the end of this email in a format that is easier to copy and paste into your browser, should you find that necessary.
Finally, as we continue to move toward in-person gathering, we’re finding it challenging to locate a venue that will do the job. Our previous home at Creative has “size of group” restrictions that are not presently workable for us, so the search is on. Think of this as the brainstorming stage. There are no bad ideas. If you’ve got any thoughts about where we could meet, send them my way. You can do that by replying to this email. Don’t be bound by convention. We’ve met everywhere from bars to warehouses to theatre lobbies over the years. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with a broom, dustpan, garbage can and determined community.
Here are the links for our gatherings this week, including Sunday morning.
