Have you ever had occasion to question the merit of something you’ve poured yourself into? I think it’s a fairly common experience. Most of us, if we’re evolving people, can look back on our past and see things there that wouldn’t be a good fit for “present tense me”. In the context of exploring what we believe many of us probably have a generous archive to draw on. In some ways, that broadly frames what we’ll be exploring this Sunday. Now…that could sound like we should brace ourselves for an encounter with regret. That’s up to you, but it’s not the perspective I’ll be coming from. Remember that as we move through stages of doubt and changing beliefs, we are not just leaving what we believed before. We are standing on it to reach for what is next, drawing on it to inform our doubts and questions, and referencing it as we consider the options. If you’ve been following along in the series, the images of rings of a tree or boxes without lids might be helpful. In any case, we’ll be moving from consideration of Stage One structures into the examination of Stage 2. It’s not a rocket ride (can the world afford more rocket rides?), but it is movement. 🙂
We’ll meet here at 10:45 a.m. for tune-age and Community Time, followed by the Talky Bit. That will be followed by And Lunch After here at 12:30, and for those that want a bit more time to interact we’ll also gather here on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. As always, these gatherings will unstructured, informal, and wide-ranging. Sometimes we go deep, sometimes we talk about the weather and strange, even disturbing, animals we’ve heard about. (If you get that last reference, it means you were there this past Wednesday. Normally I think inside references can be alienating, but in this instance I’m going to make an exception because anyone that wants to show up for the levity is welcome).
Also, a reminder to mark your calendar for an OUTSIDE IN-PERSON GATHERING on August 22nd (rain date August 29th) at the Plett house. You know why I’m shouting. It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to do this, and I’m excited. I’ll try to contain myself on the actual occasion, but online…not so much.
