Judas did what now?

Mar 26, 2017

Easter is approaching, and along with egg hunts and magical rabbits, I usually like to spend a bit of time thinking about the Passion story, which inevitably leads me to thinking about the guy who probably has the worst reputation in all of scripture, Judas Iscariot.

For the record, I happen to think that Judas is the most interesting character in the Bible and far more sympathetic than the Gospel writers portray him to be. So this week we’re going to do a good old-fashioned character study with some help from a Greek author, an Irish singer, and a British purveyor of rock operas. Along the way we’ll think about the danger that comes from the oversimplification of complex motivations and try to learn something about living better with others, especially those who have been marginalized and maligned by stereotypes peddled irresponsibly.

If you’re still intrigued, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at Sam’s Place.

Kid’s Table and coffee will be on!
