What I Did With My Summer Vacation…
Hey Tablers! I feel like I’ve been away for a loooong time, and although I can honestly say our time together as a family was fantastic, I’ve also missed all of you. I’m looking forward to our gathering this week.
As is often the case, traveling in another country and culture has given my perspective a knock in the side of the head. I feel like I have quite a lot to mull over, and if you’ll indulge me I’ll share some of those preliminary musings with you this coming Wednesday evening. In particular, I’ve been wondering how it is we seem to have lost track of the times in our wider western cultural story where different spiritual narratives have played nice together rather than trampling one another in the race to be the “story in charge”. I can’t help but wonder what this age of ours seems most likely to be remembered for – spiritual dialogue and collaboration or religious conquest and eradication. More about that on Wednesday.
Important Coming Events:
Judi Heppner is planning a welcome celebration for baby Elena (Shereen and Zeke’s daughter) the evening of July 25. Full details to come; for now, know that it is a family/community event and it will be at her place. I can’t think of a better reason to party…
Also, I understand that Ray has mentioned in Community Time that he is involved in the Manitoba Passion Play. Someone suggested that we attach some information about that play to the weekly blurb. The event poster is attached, and there are still upcoming dates.
I’ll see you on Wednesday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
