Advent Elsewhere…
I find it disturbingly easy to live as though my circumstances and experiences are representative of everyone. It takes a deliberate effort to get my head up and consider the wider world. And (surprise!) I find it easier when I have help.
I think some version of this challenge is true for most of us. So this week at The Table, we will have a guest to help us view the experience of others in a way that would be impossible without help. Thelma Sadzamari (Mrs. Pugeni, if that helps) will be sharing some of her story with us. Along the way we will get an update on our project in Africa, and have a chance to cheer on a family that lives with the constant awareness that their story is not everyone’s story…and that doesn’t change because it’s Advent.
Important Details:
Kids Table – yep, it’s a Kids Table Sunday! By the way – you can check calender details like this one any time on the website.thetablewinnipeg.com
Christmas at The Table – I keep promising more details, and not delivering them. I’m starting to feel like a politician. However, at least in this instance, I’ve got some details. As follows:
Our special Christmas gathering will happen on the evening of Sunday, December 20th (no morning gathering that day). We will share a feast together and then celebrate. Doors at 5:00pm, Dinner at 5:30pm and Celebration at 6:30pm.
The Table will provide ham and perogies and the rest of the meal is potluck. Volunteers are needed to make this happen; please check the sign-up sheets at church to see how you can help. BYOB.
Please note – as is often the case at The Table, some of us won’t be able to be present for the entire evening. Please feel free to come and go as you need to, and don’t feel like one part of the evening obliges you to attend the other. Also, this is often an occasion where people choose to bring guests. The more the merrier – as long as they like perogies.
See you on Sunday!
Peace,
Tim
