The Easter Story
In our house, a visit from Grandpa (my dad) is made particularly special if he can be convinced to tell a story. Not a “made up” story, but a story from his past – a story that actually happened. It doesn’t matter so much if the story has been heard before. It doesn’t even seem to matter if the details don’t precisely match the previous telling. What seems to make these stories important is the way they fill out the dimensions of the life of someone much beloved. They add color, shape and texture to the past, and in doing so make the present experience vibrant as well.
This week at The Table we are going to mark Easter with various encounters with “the story”. We may have heard it before, but not quite like this. And if we pay attention, our life in the present can become animated by this story in a new and fresh way; one with added color, shape and texture – one that brings life to life. Kind of like a resurrection…
See you on Sunday!
Peace and joy,
Tim
