Stories Vs. Cliches and an Easter Feast
Hey folks – this particular blurb contains information on both this coming Sunday (March 24th) and the following Sunday (March 31st), which is Easter.
This week is a Full Circle Sunday – music, Community Time, Talky Bit, Kids Table – what my grandfather would have called “the whole ball of wax”. (I have no idea what the history of that expression is. Insight, anyone?) The Talky Bit presentation and discussion will be hosted by Horst (see the following description from Horst for more info on that).
Cliches. Used so often they seem trite; almost pointless. Are they just another way of avoiding a deeper meaningful conversation? Building on a short video of a performance piece written by a Winnipeg artist, I want to explore the possibilities of personal stories and thoughtful, meaningful dialogue to help us respond to people who have been thrust to the edges of our society. We might even be able to link this to our recent look at love and justice.
Easter Sunday will include a short reflection / Talky Bit and a potluck feast. We’ll send out more details on that next week, but for now just hold the date for good food, good company, and some joyful consideration of the remarkable thing that is new life emerging from frozen ground, literally, metaphorically and spiritually. Spring can be pretty messy, but (for me, at least) it is perennially renewing. Re-new-al just never gets old.
As far as the feast / potluck goes, plan to attend whether you have something to bring or not. There is always enough, which I think is both a material delight and a significant insight into what happens when we share what we have with one another.
Peace,
