November 28th at the Table…

November 27, 2010

This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent. In the long-standing practice of many Christian traditions, Advent exists (for the most part) to help us learn to wait, to anticipate, what is coming but not yet here. Most of us are not that good at waiting. Our culture insists on instant gratification, and trains us to operate in that way by generating the false urgency of consumption as fulfillment. This Sunday we’re going to explore the connection between Advent and God’s dream of a peaceable (or maybe better still, a peace-making) kingdom, in which we participate both by waiting and acting. I look forward to seeing!

Peace,

Tim
