Easter at The Table
Hey everyone – a joyous almost-Easter to you!
As promised previously, location info first:
We will be there next week as well.
Info about how to access the space: the address is McDermot, but the doorways are just around the building corner on Arthur Street. As usual, we’ll put out the sign by the door that leads up a short flight of stairs to the elevator. And a word about that elevator – it works fine, but (like some children) it doesn’t respond quickly when called. Just be patient. If you want to take the stairs, the door you want is the obvious “main entry” that is on the very corner. of the building at Arthur and McDermot. The sign above that door says “Pan Am Boxing” with a “Creative Manitoba” sign above that. Just remember – you have to hike all the way to the fourth floor before you will find us. If you turn off too soon, you might find yourself surrounded by people throwing punches. Last week I neglected to unlock the door at the top of the stairs. I commend the determination of the people that found their way in anyway, and offer here my public pledge to trap fewer people in the stairwell in the future.
Easter Sunday Potluck: We are going to feast together! We’ll gather at the usual time, and if you can stay for lunch afterward, please do. No rules about what you bring – hot, cold, bag of chips from the corner store…doesn’t matter. Just stay if you can and have some time to hang with folks.
Media Team: Progress has been made! We now have three people on this team…and to make this a sustainable rotation, we should have four. So there’s still room for you! No extraordinary technical acumen required. Training provided, by some of the most understanding and kind people I know, and all without anyone lapsing into “techno-speak”. So lovely…
Talky Bit – It’s Easter Sunday, which of course suggests some rather obvious themes. The way I see it, finding a church that is talking about those themes should be easy. At this gathering, we’ll be taking a little different approach, and exploring what I’m calling the “liminal” stories surrounding the event of resurrection. For our purposes, that basically means that we’ll be considering stories that have a foot on both sides of a threshold; a space where we humans seem to live quite a bit of our lives. This exploration will involve talking, listening, art, music, and food.
