Earth Day
For those of you that have been paying attention (and some of you have), this Sunday is Earth Day. In a fortuitous stroke that almost feels inspired, we will be returning to The Big Story this week. Fortuitous because the part of the story we are in suggests that God’s idea of a good time is running around a garden naked with some vegetarians, and if that isn’t a ringer for Earth Day I don’t know what is! (We won’t actually be talking about the above in any detail, but it just seemed too good to pass up)!
What I do hope to explore in a more detail is the idea that the ancient Jews, from whom we receive our creation narrative, were very committed to recycling. Seriously. And that their commitment to recycling points to something we’re still working out in our seeking after God and faith and love in the 21st century.
I’ll see you on Sunday / Earth Day.
Peace,
Tim
