Communication Breakdown…
Today my son Tirian and I had a collision. He was riding his bike, and I was standing near where he was riding. I thought he was going one way, he thought I understood he was planning to go the other and would get out of the way. He ploughed into me going full tilt.
Everyone is recovering nicely, but it got me thinking about communication breakdowns. They happen in every realm of life, from recreation to work to relationships of all kinds. Maybe it’s because we have so much practice living like islands – disconnected individuals that rely on “inter-island” communications to get by. As much as being skillful at communication matters, it seems as though life would be profoundly different if we could get past the “island” way of functioning and live as though we were deeply interconnected.
Maybe it’s a crazy thought, but it is one that is at the heart of a key Celtic “sacred space”, and at the core of what we’ll be exploring this Monday night.
I look forward to seeing you this week, and to enjoying the gift of our time together.
Peace,
Tim
