Celebrate… then into the wilderness…
Hello folks. Since you are on this email list, I’m assuming that you saw our “urgent” financial email. A situation like that one is cause for some concern, and in this case also cause for some celebration. The community responded in a variety of ways. The Leadership Team was supportive, Brent (and maybe others, but I’m aware of Brent’s unique role) immediately suggested the establishment of a Paypal account, and then promptly went ahead and did the work. That account provided the conduit for a quick response from the community, and a good portion of the needed funds came in. So we have that to celebrate. There are other reasons to celebrate as well, some of which I will touch on when we gather on Sunday.
And as long as we’re on the topic of Sunday, let me ask you a question. When you think of “wilderness”, what images come to mind? This Sunday we will give some consideration to some of the shapes the idea of “wilderness” might take in our lives, and what sorts of change might emerge from those places. We will take a visual sojourn with Jesus into the wilderness, as imagined by the graphic artist Si Smith, and also travel a few miles in the shoes of the disciple Peter, whose wilderness was deeply formative. My hope for us as we gather this week is that we may widen the scope of our imagination about ways in which Christ might meet us, if we would only choose to step into our particular wilderness…with him.
Peace,
Tim
