A story from the Community….

November 8, 2012

One of the greatest privileges in my life as a pastor is to sit with
folks and hear their stories. I often feel deeply humbled by the trust
that is extended in those moments. I also often feel exhilirated,
because so many of these conversations reveal hearts and lives that
are vigorously seeking God – the reality of people that are hungry to
deeply know and be known. It isn’t unusual for me to walk away from
such a time thinking, “I wish I could share this with the community a
The Table!”

Well, this week I can! This Sunday I will be joined by a member of our
community as he shares some of his own story and journey with us. It
promises to be an intriguing morning, worth braving whatever extreme
weather events may fall between now and then. (By the way – and I know
this might sound awfully cheesy! – everyday events can be reminders to
pray. The sound of a siren can become a prompt to pray for those it is
going to help, a blizzard a reminder to pray for those suffering from
weather related disasters, and so on. These little practices shape our
view of the world, and help make it bigger than our own circumstances
and preferences. Just a thought…)

Peace to you all,

Tim Plett
