Culture of Entitlement
Thanksgiving: turkey, pumpkin pie, the pistachio pudding cake my aunt makes that’s to die for, hanging out with family, warm fuzzies of thankfulness.
Entitlement: I buy the turkey, someone better bring whipped cream for the pumpkin pie, if that pistachio cake isn’t around I’ll lose it, my family better be good, warm fuzzies of entitlement.
How do I live thankfully in a culture of entitlement?
I’ve been reading Leonard Cohen’s Book of Mercy and finding it incredible! Much of it so far has reminded me of the Psalms, short prayers. I’d like to lead us in a conversation- emphasis on conversation (i.e. you’ll be asked to participate!) on thankfulness in some of Cohen’s work, some Pslams, and how to subvert entitlement with thankfulness.
I look forward to chatting together!
