Hey folks – happy post-long-weekend to you!  We all know that summer isn’t over, but in our house at least there is a discernible sense of beginning to consider the details of “getting back at it”. That will happen soon enough, but first a party! In particular, a pot luck gathering at the Plett house this Sunday.

Here’s the plan: we will be ready for guests by 4:00, and plan to have our community gathering at 4:30. We’ll have a potluck meal after that – let’s say about 5:30. And then hang out time until whenever.

We won’t be able to offer the littles their own entire floor of the house (Mike and Arielle set that bar beyond our reach), but there will be play space both indoors and out, and LOTS of things to play with. You can take the kids out of the house, but the LEGO stays forever…
As far as potluck details go, let’s mostly just see what happens. Our family will prepare some pulled pork and buns. Beyond that feel free to go grand, go simple, buy a box of cookies enroute, or to show up with nothing at all. If we share what we have, there will be enough. If you have a preferred beverage, feel free to bring that as well. We’ll make room in the fridge to keep things cool and have oven space to keep things warm.

In the Talky Bit I want to continue to explore the nature of compassion. It feels like we live in a world that is dying for it, or for lack of it.
