This Week at The Table: “And now for something somewhat different”

Apr 11, 2021

Hi Everyone,

If you’re a part of our Facebook group you may have seen Tim Plett’s post about his, if not emergency, then certainly unplanned, eye surgery today. Here’s a note from him:

I’m off to the hospital later this morning for surgery to repair a detached retina. I’ll spare you the gory details. It’s called an “emergency” surgery, but as surgeries go, it’s pretty minor. Lasers are involved, which I think is kinda cool. The odds are quite good that it’ll do the job and in due course I’ll have vision back in the damaged eye (my right).

It’s largely the recovery that prompts me to write a post in this context. You are my community. I love what we get to do together, and I cherish my role in our shared explorations. For the next two weeks, I need to be physically face down. That will have some impact on how I can participate in all sorts of things, including our times together.

What this means in the short term is that Tim will be out of commission for the next two weeks (at least) and so our online gatherings will function differently than usual. We will still gather on Facebook for some singing and community time, but we will not have a talkie bit. Tim valiantly offered to pre-record something, but we on the leadership team felt he should take time to recover. Instead, we’ll have a very lightly guided conversation during our “And lunch after” Zoom meetup, which will take place right after community time. Tim Plett may or may not be there.

Here’s the link for that, it’s different than the usual meeting link:

Also, some of you may remember that we have our AGM scheduled for this week, that is not going to happen under these circumstances. We’ve postponed the meeting until April 25th, and will be taking place right after the talkie bit that day, there will be more information coming in the next few weeks.

We’re not sure what next week will look like, but we’ll keep you updated.

Have a great weekend!

– Tim (Penner)
