The Circle of Life Part 1 (with Wally Chartrand)
At the risk of saying something so familiar that it sounds trite, life can be very complex. Having a story (or a collection of stories) to provide a way of looking at and living into that complexity can be of immeasurable value. Having the knowledge of more than one story and the ability to access that breadth of knowledge as the situation calls for it can help add nuance, wisdom and kindness to the ways we proceed with our lives. Learning new stories can help with all of that. Learning new stories can also be a lot of work, but it’s almost always made a bit easier when we have a guide, a mentor, an elder, a seasoned keeper and teller of stories, to walk with us.
We are privileged as a community to have Wally in our midst; someone whose own story is both deep and wide, and whose knowledge and practice of his Indigenous path deeply informs his understanding of the world that we all share. This Sunday Wally will offer part one of his teachings about what he calls “the circle of life”; what is often known as the medicine wheel. Our morning will have the same general outline as usual; we’ll gather at 10:45 a.m. here for music and Community Time, then move on to Wally’s teaching in the Talky Bit, also on our Facebook group page.
The main difference will be that our zoom hang afterward (And Lunch After) will be dedicated to a follow-up conversation about what has been shared, hosted by Wally. Depending on how long the Talky Bit is, And Lunch After may start a bit later, but for now let’s aim at a 12:30 start time. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the link we usually use for And Lunch After. It’s unique to this particular zoom gathering. I’ll post the link below:

And just a reminder that we also have a mid-week zoom hang at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, which you can find at this link:

I know I’ve said this before, but I think it’s hard to overemphasize what an outstanding opportunity this is. At present, our plan is to also offer these two Talky Bits as audio podcasts available on our website, on Apple Podcasts and other places you might use as a podcast source. Please share them with anyone you think might appreciate or benefit from the gift of this perspective.
I’ll see you on Sunday!
Peace,
Tim Plett
