The walls between secular and sacred…
This week Tim Penner will be leading us in the teaching part of our worship and here is where he’s heading:
“A funny thing happens when we begin to remove labels like secular and sacred from things like music and other art forms. Suddenly, instead of anxiety over corruption we have the beginning of a conversation; instead of creating ideological others, we are welcoming open-minded friends to our table (no pun intended). This week, join us as we explore a different kind of worship experience: one wherein the walls between preaching and singing, art and education, and secular and sacred have been razed allowing a dialogue to exist between our holy text and the popular music of our time which manages to invoke its deepest truths.”
A few reminders as well…
Remember to bring your used coats, mitts, scarves and hats to church this Sunday and next, as we are collecting them for Agape Table to distribute.
Also our “Christmas Eve” service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23rd at 7PM at The Exchange Cafe. We will be celebrating as a community with worship followed by food and drinks provided by Mario. Remember to get tickets for you and your friends early enough so we can plan on how many to prepare for. Email Maryanne at m_meisner_@hotmail.com OR Karen at klcjohnson@gmail.com to reserve them now.
See you Sunday morning at 10:30. Have a great weekend.
