God In a Lunch Box…

April 3, 2016

Hey Tablers…First of all, a heartfelt “Thank You!” to everyone that helped make our Easter Breakfast such a well-provided-for feast. It felt to me like a joyful way to break the fast of Lent, and the step into the stream of God alive in us, among us and between us. Particular thanks to Lisa for quarterbacking the whole deal, and to Bernie and Judi for keeping the fresh pancakes coming. Fantastic!

I’m guessing that not many of you grew up taking lunch boxes to school, but as a country kid in northern Saskatchewan I rode the rural school bus every day and when the noon break came around I opened up my lunch box to see what kind of good surprises might be inside. In my wildest dreams, I would never have expected to encounter the presence of the Living God in there! (In my imagination even now, this idea looks like beams of overwhelmingly bright white light streaming out of a typical metal lunch box, suffusing an astonished kid with too much Glory to handle). Our exploration this week will be rooted in the story of some folks that were quite astonished to find God in their lunch box, and will expand outward to seek the presence of God in all sorts of other places, likely and unlikely.

Amy tells me that the Kids Table is good to go for all of April. I can’t help but smile whenever I think of how far the Kid’s Table has evolved in a very short time, and I’m grateful for Amy and her team and their faithful care for some of the most vulnerable in our midst.

We will gather at 372 Notre Dame at 10:30. Just a reminder to use the side door.

See you on Sunday!

Peace,

Tim Plett
