This Week, Not At The Table…

December 27, 2015
Hello Tablers. I want to start by saying how grateful I am for the time we shared together last Sunday evening. I realize that singling out people for thanks is always a bit of a minefield, but in this instance I do want to say a particularly hearty thanks to everyone that went above and beyond to help with the logisitics of food, set up and clean up, and program. When a gathering like that one feels easy, it’s because a lot of people worked hard behind the scenes at a very busy time of year. THANK YOU!

I know this season is often fraught with all sorts of pressures and challenges as well, so I’m not assuming it’s been good. However, that remains my hope. In any case, I do look forward to being back together again so that we can share both the joys and the heartaches.

Just a couple of reminders – we are NOT gathering this Sunday (tomorrow). It has been our experience that this is a time of year where we want to gather with significant people in our lives, and this weekend is often a premium time to do that. We will meet again next Sunday morning at the usual time and place, and I’ll send around an email reminding us all about that.

One other detail – If giving financially is part of how you participate in the life of the community that is The Table, let me reminder you that if you want your donations to be elligible for a 2015 tax reciept, you need to either put your donation into the mail such that is is postmarked before midnight on December 31st, or give online via the Paypal link on our website by that same time.

Also, we have pledged to give 10% of anything that comes in over and above our obligations to Score Against Poverty (the sustainable farming and food security project we share with the Pugeni’s and their African partners), so your generosity can have a direct impact on the well being of a rapidly growing group of empowered and increasingly better educated farmers in that country. I think this is not only a worthwhile endeavor, but one of the most directly and concretely good things our community is doing, and I look forward to seeing it not only carry on, but seeing it thrive.

Peace to each of you, my friends. I’ll see you in the New Year.
