The Great Thing About Sin

Nov 24, 2019

Whoah! The “great thing about sin”? Can’t wait to hear this…

If you’ve been around The Table or our podcasts for any length of time, you know that I (Tim) can take my sweet time getting to what I’m trying to explore. If I was a writer, I’d be inclined to bury the lead. But, fortunately for all concerned, I’m not taking the Talky Bit this week. Judi is. And I think it’s fair to say, she is more inclined to cut to the chase, get to the point, be direct. Sometimes that’s just what we all need to get our explorer fully awake and working. Here’s what Judi has to say about where she’ll be headed this Sunday:
A few weeks back I was talking with a colleague about her recent wedding. She told me about her decision to marry her long-time partner and father of her children after almost two decades. I was a bit startled when a reason was, “the whole living in sin thing.”
I grew up very churched so I’m familiar with the word “sin”, and have heard it used in ways that leave me feeling uncomfortable. Conversations like this have reminded me that, like it or not, it is a concept that remains, even if rarely acknowledged. I think maybe we should talk about this thing we call “sin” and how our thoughts about it affect us. So that’s what I’m doing.

See what I mean? To the point. I’m looking forward to this!
The Details:
We’ll gather at Creative Manitoba ( 245 McDermot Avenue, 4th floor). Kids Table is on. Coffee is on. We’ve solidified our Tim Bits supply chain. We’re ready to re-consider “sin” (not “sinning”, per se). Caffeine, sugar and big ideas. What could go wrong?
And a reminder that our Christmas gathering will be on the evening of December 22nd. Potluck at 6:00, gathering at 7:00. NOT formal.  🙂
I’ll see on Sunday.
Peace
-Tim Plett
