The Deep End Part 6 – and some news about our gathering space
Hey folks – we’ve taken a bit of a breather from our exploration of religious trauma and RTS (religious trauma syndrome) for the past couple of weeks, and (as promised) we are now returning to this topic. In particular, we’re going to move into some consideration of what healing might look like. I’m not going to attempt to outline that process in an email blurb. As you may be able to imagine, given the potential depth and complexity of the wounds, the paths toward healing are also complicated. However, they are accessible. If you, or someone you know or love, carries these wounds, healing is possible. And, as is always the case at The Table, exploring that process is not something you need to do alone. Let’s gather and take this on together.
We’ll gather at VA Cafe at 10:45 AM, in the lower event space. We’ll livestream here, and podcast later in the week here.
Now…regarding hat “news about our gathering space”. I’ve just confirmed a couple of hours ago that VA Cafe is closing. This weekend will be the last time they are open for business. We’ve been able to use the space because of a good connection with the owners of that business, and I’m incredibly grateful we’ve been able to be there. They have also expressed their gratitude that we have shared the space with them. I am so pleased they feel that way, and it speaks well for how we’ve all worked together to be gracious guests.
Now…the question is, where are we headed? Well, this is all very late-breaking news so the answer is, “we don’t know yet”. However, one of the things we’ve learned in the past (and yes, we’ve done this more than once), is that collective wisdom, insight and effort is essential to solving the problem. So…we’ll take a bit of time tomorrow morning to touch on this, but it won’t be our central focus. We exist to explore what we believe, and we know by experience that we can do that in a wide variety of spaces. Feel free to email me (tim@thetablewinnipeg.com) with any ideas you have, and we’ll get to work on finding our next home. I’ll keep you posted as we go.
In the meantime, I’ll see you on Sunday.
