Telling Stories…
Hello Tablers! We don’t tend to make much ado about “themes” or “series” at The Table, but the past few weeks we’ve been consistently surfacing ideas having to do with hope. This week will mark the last Sunday we overtly focus on that topic, and I’m personally very much looking forward to what we’ve decided to do.
Meghan Pavlick, whom I expect most of you know, will be sharing part of her personal journey. Here is what she has to say about where she is headed this Sunday…
Hello Community,
We’ve been exploring hope through a variety of stories and this week I am both daunted and excited to share some of the ways hope has and continues to be present in the often bleak and messy journey I’m in the midst of navigating. Please know that the physical and emotional heaviness of what I plan to share has taken much reflection and time to string together as it is a series of my lived moments; ones that illustrate the tension between hope and despair and how they consume me. I hope that you can join me, as I bring to light portions of myself; portions that I otherwise leave tucked away in my apartment; portions often consumed by my struggle with depression and portions that simply make me cry.
Meghan
I would encourage you to come out to hear some of Meghan’s story for a couple of reasons. One is visible in what she has written – doing something like this is a considerable act of trust and courage, and showing up for it is an act of solidarity and communal support. The second reason is that stories are much more than information. They are windows into meaning, and the realm of struggle that Meghan walks through every day is one most of us need to understand better and have more empathy for.
And…it’s a Kids Table Sunday, so to all you diminutive Tablers – bring it on!
I’ll see you on Sunday. (And yes, we’re still meeting at Independent Jewellers…)
Peace,
Tim
