What Do You Mean When You Say God?
On this particular Sunday at The Table, we did a bit of poking around in how varied our ideas about “God” are. We used as our source material the answers generated in our morning gathering to the question “What do you mean when you say ‘God’?”. Those answers form what feels to me like the pivotal moment in this podcast – the “in situ” responses from the people in the room; honest, considered, creative engagements one of the great human questions. I love that we get to explore the way we do as a community, and I’m grateful for the generous permission of the people in the room to share their thoughts with you by way of podcast.
We have our AGM coming up in just over a week I thought I would mention the more unusual detail first. At the bottom of this blurb I’ve included a link to the current draft of bylaws for The Table. The old ones were thoroughly incompatible with what our community has become and desperately in need of revision. The Leadership Team has worked at that project for the past few months. The next step in the process is to present the new bylaws to the community at our AGM. I realize this won’t be of interest to everyone on the email list, but if it feels relevant to you please take the time to read the bylaws in advance of our Souper Sunday Potluck and AGM, which will take place following our regular gathering on February 23rd (not this Sunday but the one following). It’s a short, relatively straight-forward document. We’ll make sure we have a few paper copies at the meeting, but are not planning to set aside any group time to read through it together. In the interest of continuing to make our AGM both transparent and efficient, I would encourage you to read it in advance if possible.
