Sacred Rest
Hey folks – I’m sending this email again with my apologies for the inbox clutter. The previous version was pretty much unreadable on my phone (the byproduct of working on one device and sending on another, perhaps), so I thought I would send a readable one. If you wrestled your way through the other one, ignore this. The content is the same.
I hope that everyone had a very pleasant long weekend that included some rest. More on that topic later but first of all some details.
We have now had a couple of gatherings at our new address VA Cafe at 171 McDermot Avenue. We are still ironing out a few wrinkles but for the most part are starting to settle in. A couple of reminders about some items that people keep asking about – parking is free in the Exchange on Sundays and not time limited. Also, be sure to read the loading zone signs carefully – they sometimes provide a hidden opportunity to park closer to the venue. Yes, we can bring our own baked goods, etc, but do plan to purchase your Sunday morning coffee at VA. I have it on good authority that you won’t be disappointed.
Just in case this Sunday morning is your first visit, here’s how you can find us: When you come up the stairs into the cafe, get your coffee then keep going straight ahead down the stairs to the event space on the lower level. We’ll be there.
Because of various holiday schedules, we have a lovely variety of people taking on the Talky Bits throughout July. Judi was on the week before last (you can find the podcast here), the long weekend was a blackout date, I’ve got this weekend followed by Tim Penner (July 16th), Misty (the 23rd) and Theresa (the 30th). So much to look forward to!
This week I’ll be exploring the intersection where resting and the sacred meet. We’ll touch on some familiar concepts and some less so. We will get underway at 10:45 a.m. with some music and Community Time. We will attempt to livestream here. Getting our outgoing signal solid from the basement of an old stone and concrete building is one of the details we’re still working on. We will do the best we can and keep testing solutions until we get it sorted. Along the way, we will continue to put up the podcast as early as possible the following ek.
