Not Quite Christmas 2025!

Hey folks – this Sunday morning at our usual time (10:45 am, for those not familiar), we’ll meet at VA Cafe (lower level) for our annual “Not Quite Christmas” gathering. We’ll sing (some goofy songs, some less-so), we’ll reflect a bit on the complexity of this season, and we’ll eat together (more details on that below). The production values will be low (no smoke machine! no thundering p.a.!), but the opportunities for authentic sharing of ourselves and connection will be high. If that sounds good to you, show up – with or without something for the potluck. We’ll livestream the first part of the gathering here.

Speaking of which…as is our practice, this will be a full-on pot-luck. Bring what you want to or have on hand, or just show up. I don’t recall us ever having gone home hungry from one of these. We’ll provide the paper service and drinks (thanks Shereen and Andreas), unless you want to buy something fancy from the upstairs coffee bar. There are lots of plugins available for those who wish to keep things warm until we eat, because we’ll sing and talk first, then share the meal. Also, this plan of events typically takes us past noon, but since we’ll be eating at the end of our time, you can stay or go as you wish (or need to).

If you want to reflect ahead of time on what we’ll be exploring, I’ll be providing an opportunity for us to share something about this season that we experience as delightful, joyful or pleasant, and something we find challenging or unpleasant.

I think it’s fair to say that this has been our most challenging year financially, and every contribution makes a positive difference. You can find information about ways to donate here. Donations made before December 31st will be issued receipts for this tax year.
