Make Time For Hope – A Souper Sunday (with Kids Table)
So I was working in the yard yesterday evening, raking out some areas where we’ve planted perennial grasses. Honestly, it was looking kinda grim – lots of dead leaves and branches piled on top of the dead grasses. Not a glimmer of green. Ugh. But “hope springs eternal”, and all that, right? And sometimes, what we’re hoping for shows up. When I went outside this morning, there it was – sprigs of bright, tender, newly arrived grass.
This Sunday we’re going to do a couple of things that symbolize and make time for hope. One is a creative exercise that I won’t bother trying to describe in the blurb – it’s better experienced. 🙂 The other is that we’re going to share a meal together. I don’t know if you’ve ever considered this, but cooking is hopeful. We make food before we eat it. Well duh, Tim – how else could it work? Fair enough. But what makes us think we’ll actually get to eat it? I would call that “hope”.
And speaking of preparation, Shereen is the person that coordinates and facilitates this aspect of our gatherings. Thanks Shereen!
Here’s what she has to say about this coming Sunday:
Let’s welcome spring with a Souper Sunday (potluck) on April 27.
Come, eat and visit. Everything needed to eat will be provided (plates, bowls, cutlery etc.), plus juice and water. Coffee and cafe beverages can be bought upstairs in the VA Cafe. No theme or list for the potluck, just bring what you want to share. There are lots of outlets if you need to plug in a crockpot. Not necessary to bring anything, in order to partake.
Hope to see you there!
And I hope for that as well.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
Tim Plett
