Make It Yours – An Easter Full Circle Sunday

Apr 20, 2025

Hey folks – if your world is anything like mine, people have been wishing you a “Happy Easter” this past week. As someone who grew up in a religious culture in which Easter was a big deal (I mean, resurrections don’t happen every day, right? Or do they?), having folks that I know are irreligious saying “Happy Easter” feels like it’s in a category adjacent to being wished a “Merry Christmas” by people for whom the Christian story is, at best, a distant and irrelevant echo. To be clear, it doesn’t bother me in the least. However, I do find it interesting. What does it mean? Does it mean “Enjoy the long weekend”? Perhaps. Does it mean, “I hope this is like Thanksgiving and all your kids are around for dinner”? Maybe. Does it mean, “2000 years ago the Romans tortured a Rabbi to death but there’s this story saying that he didn’t stay dead, so let’s have a party”? Well, maybe to some but not to most of the folks that I’m thinking of.

All to say, “Happy Easter” can (and does) mean lots of different things. The question I plan to explore this Sunday is, “how can we take something familiar that could be approached in many different ways and make it our own?”.

We’ll start at 10:45 at VA Cafe, share some music and Community Time, KIds Table will be doing something creative in the next room over and keeping us smiling with their joyful conversations – all of us exploring what we believe in a space where we don’t have to be afraid of “getting it wrong”. How delightful! Happy Easter indeed.

I’ll see you on Sunday.

Peace,
Tim Plett

Housekeeping P.S.’s
– We could really use financial support right now. If you are able to participate in this way, that would be very helpful.
– Next week will be a Souper Sunday. Food of any and all shapes will be welcome. (If you get that sentence, it means you’ve been reading the previous blurbs. Good for you!) More details in the blurb next week.
