Just Imagine…
I suspect that most of us like the idea of the New Year offering a sort of blank page, an opportunity to make something fresh and new. Maybe we’re motivated by the desire for a “do over” because of something in the past. Perhaps we find ourselves wanting to move something we’ve already started forward. It might be that we have a sense of not being done evolving ourselves, and we want to press deeper into what we hope is next for us. That’s not an exhaustive list, of course.
Whatever it is that calls out to us with a voice of hope as we enter the New Year, it’s important to remember that change starts with imagination. As the quote I shared last week says, “Change that counts in revolution takes place first in the imagination.” With that in mind, what I want to offer us in the Talky Bit this Sunday are a few different metaphors for The Table; ways to imagine who we might be as a community that can help us move further in our shared commitment to making room to explore what we believe.
One very important part of our life together that is clearly in a state of change is The Kids Table. We said goodbye to Amy at the end of 2022. That was / is sad and difficult. That said, disruption is also the ground in which change can grow. But first, we need to imagine that change. Ideally, we imagine it together- we contribute to the change by helping to form a picture of what could be. To help us do that, we want to offer three different ways that parents, kids and the community in general can talk about what they would most value at The Kids Table.
1. A Zoom “consultation hang out”. (Bet you haven’t seen those ideas combined before.) More info to follow on this in the blurb next week.
-this Sunday is “in person” at 170 Scott (The Rainbow Resource Centre). We’ll start at 10:45 a.m. If you can‘t make it out in person, join the livestream here. We’ll put up the podcast the following week here.
-the week after that (January 15th) will be online; same time, but watchable world-wide because of the magic of the internet. :)That’s it for now. I’ll see you on Sunday.
