It’s Darkest Just Before Dawn…

March 29, 2015
It’s both a physical reality and a truism – we encounter the deepest part of the day/night cycle late in the night. In the cycle of the long-observed calender of the Christian religion, that “just before the dawn” moment comes right around now – at the ending of Lent and upon the cusp of Easter.

I’m finding it interesting how my own thinking about this season has shifted as we’ve reconsidered both what it means to have God occupy “the dark” in our lives, and also as we have approached Lent differently each week. This week we’ll be re-visiting and concluding our reflections on learning to walk in the dark with an examination and re-imagination of some of the moments in the Christ narrative that are note-worthily “dark”.

We won’t be gathering on Good Friday, but Easter Sunday we will meet at 9:30 a.m. to have breakfast together, before we meet at 10:30 to mark “the dawn”. That gathering will include a variety of explorations of what it might mean to attend to the presence of God among humanity. Those expressions will include a parent/child dedication for three of our littlest ones and their adults.

Judi Bargen is coordinating “Souper Sunday“, and tells me that you should “bring something to share ie boiled eggs, muffins, cheese, fruit….whatever”. If you have any questions about that, you can contact Judi by email at judi@thetablewinnnipeg.com

See you on Sunday!

Peace,
