Indigenous Mindfulness – A Celebration In Healing and Faith
Hey folks – I think we’re in for what is, in our context, a bit of a rare treat! If you grew up “religious”, and you take a moment to think back to the last time you saw or heard the words “faith” and “healing” in the same sentence (if that triggered you, I’m truly sorry), I can promise you what we’ll be doing this Sunday will be NOTHING like whatever came to mind! The Talky Bit this Sunday will be guided by Wally Chartrand. When I talked with him a couple of weeks ago about this, I asked if he would be willing to lead us in some exploration of an Indigenous perspective on winter and story. He said yes, and on Sunday we’ll find out where that took him, and where he’ll take all of us. As a bit of a teaser, here’s what Wally sent me for the blurb:
Wally
Where and When: We will meet at the usual time and place; Creative Manitoba, (245 McDermot Ave, 4th floor) at the usual time (after 10:30 a.m., and before 12:00 noon). We’ll provide coffee / tea / salty little pretend fish, sugary little pretend donuts, and good company. You provide a living, breathing person, ready to explore what they believe.
Date Change for our Christmas Gathering: It seems that a high percentage of our community would not be able to attend our Christmas gathering on December 22nd, so we’re moving it to December 29th. Once more, in bold print – We will gather for our Christmas celebration on the evening of December 29th! Other details stay the same – still a potluck followed by whatever else we plan, still at Creative Manitoba. We will gather at our normal morning time and place on the 22nd.
Kids Table Resources Project: Our Kids Table leaders are sometimes “out of pocket” for supplies. We would like to change that, and the people who work with the littles have suggested that Dollarama (or similar) gift cards would be a good way to do that. So…if you want to encourage that team, feel free to bring a gift card to leave at the Giving Station at the back of our gathering space any time between now and Christmas. If you want a receipt for those gifts, leave them in an envelope with your name and address.
Peace,
