How Did You Get Here?

Feb 2, 2020

Sometimes, I look around the room when we are gathered on a Sunday morning and I marvel that this particular group of people is sitting in the same space. What do we have in common? Other than that remarkable gift of being living humans, what is it? When I think about this question for a bit, I feel I can confidently say two things. The first is that I don’t know the answer. The second is that, if I did, the answer wouldn’t be static. It would be constantly changing, because we are constantly changing. Which leads me to believe that we might be better served by working on knowing one anothers stories than we would be by trying to synchronize them. That’s just one of the reasons why it’s important to sometimes hear someone answer the “how did you get here?” question out loud, on purpose, and in a way that we can all share. Odds are, we’ll discover all kinds of commonalities we never suspected we had, as well as encountering some things that challenge us. This Sunday, we’re going to do just that – pause together and have someone from the community tell us part of their story. Come ready to listen with your mind and your heart.

Important Details:

-Kids Table is ON! Has anybody else noticed that some of our littles are not-so-little anymore? I know that’s normal, but it still amazes me every time!  Love it…

-Our AGM is scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd. We’ll stay after our gathering to share a potluck meal and to deal with the required business of being a charity. Stick around if you can. The food and the company will be good, and the AGM will be brief. The Table is a pretty simple organization to report on, but it’s your organization and you should know what’s going on.

-Tax receipts: Justin promises to make the deadline, but maybe just barely. It’s not an indicator of gratitude, just of the reality of doing the job of the Finance Chair as a volunteer. Thanks for your gifts, and for your patience.

We’ll put the coffee on by 10:30. I’ve been assured that the wonky thermostat has been repaired, so we can take our parkas off and enjoy the balmy weather indoors as well as outdoors.

I’ll see you on Sunday at Creative Manitoba ( 245 McDermot Ave, 4th floor).

Peace,
Tim Plett
