How Are You Thankful?

Oct 12, 2025

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!

Here’s a little “thought experiment” for you. Read the subject line a couple of times, moving the emphasis to different words. “How are you thankful? ” means something different from “How are you thankful?”, and also different from “How are you thankful?”. And that’s without any audible inflection, which creates even more possibilities.

This Sunday, when we gather at VA Cafe at 10:45 am., we’ll start with some Community Time, take a moment to catch our breath, and then do something “hands on” that addresses several of the possible meanings of the question in the subject line. Come prepared to be at least moderately reflective. 🙂 We will livestream the first part of our gathering here.

Next Sunday (October 19th) will be a long overdue Souper Sunday. As I mentioned last week, I’m thinking of it as something called “Lovin’ Leftovers”. Or maybe it’s “Love ‘n Leftovers”. Because it’s a potluck gathering that is bound to be full of great people, perhaps the second title is better than the first. Maybe they’re both ridiculous. You be the judge, but start planning now just what sort of creative culinary chicanery you might apply to leftovers to amaze, amuse and share with your friends at The Table. (I tried to think of an “a” word for “share”, but my brain balked. It must be the end of the week. Any ideas?).  I’ll send more details about that in the blurb next week.

In the meantime, I’ll see you on Sunday.

Peace,
Tim Plett
